SOCIAL ACTIVITIES

Social and cultural activities play an important role at Dilmer, in addition to our contemporary education. Throughout these social activities, we ensure that the students become acquainted with Istanbul, make new friends and practise their knowledge of the Turkish language outside the classroom.

PARTIES- Our students from all over the world have the opportunity to meet each other during our introduction parties, trips and farewell evenings. They also have the opportunity of practising the language they have been learning during our “out-of-class” activities. In summer, these parties take place on a boat tour of the Bosphorus, hired by Dilmer.

SIGHTSEEING IN THE CITY- We hold sightseeing tours throughout every course period during the year, to help our students become acquainted with Istanbul. These tours include many famous places, such as Anadolu Kavagi, Eyüp Mosque, Kariye Museum and Camlica Hill on both European and Asian sides of Istanbul. We recommend all students should see these places. Our sightseeing tours are between 9.00a.m. and 7.00p.m. The transport fees are paid by Dilmer.

PICNICS- In the months of April and May, we have picnics in Belgrad Forest. We set off at 9.00a.m on Friday from Dilmer and return back at 6.00-7.00p.m. The transport fees are paid by Dilmer.

SUMMER TRIPS- In the months of July and August ( and also in June and September, weather permitting) we go swimming to Sile, Kilyos, Riva, Agva, which are all on the boundary of Istanbul, and also the Islands of the Marmara Sea. We set off at 9.00a.m on Friday from Dilmer and return back at 7.00-7.30p.m. The transport fees are paid by Dilmer.

SPORTING ACTIVITIES- Our students have many opportunities to become involved in our sporting activities which take place near our language school. Dilmer holds tournaments and championships in sports such as tennis, volleyball and football.

HIKING- Hiking trips take place every month in a city near Istanbul, if there are enough participants. Experienced tour companies organize these functions. There is a small charge for these trips, between $15 and $20. This includes meals, transport and tour guide. These trips take place on Saturdays and Sundays. We set off from Dilmer at 7.00-7.30a.m and return at 8.30-9.00p.m.
